Side Tables & A Mouthguard

I’m making a pair of side tables, Shaker side tables to be precise. The plan is to use these as bedside tables, which will hopefully solve a few issues that have arisen as of late. Rose, my fiance, used to keep a stack of apple crates beside the bed that she was using as a makeshift nightstand. These crates have subsequently been re-purposed around the house as plant stands. Her decision, her priorities. However, the lack of the bedside storage has prompted an amusing nighttime ritual. Each day comes to an end with her searching for a number of items that used to reside on the apple crates. These items include, but are not limited to, the phone charger, hair ties, a mouth guard (gross), iPad, eyeglasses, water glass, etc. To put this in perspective, for three nights in a row there has been an all-hands-on-deck, mattress flipping search for, yes you guessed it, the mouth guard (still gross). This needs to end… enter the side tables. Though as I’m writing this, I realize that I should have just made a damn plant stand. But too late, the tables are already started.

One set of legs for the side tables ready for tapering. The cabinet makers triangle helps to keep the legs oriented relative to one another throughout the build.
